A Message from the Head of School Tom Argersinger

Dear Parents and Friends of CCS,

I hope this edition of Parent News finds you walking closely with the Lord of Glory!

We rejoice with those who have been spared from serious damage from Hurricane Helene, as well as those whose lives are shattered as a result of this incredibly powerful storm.

God is sovereign in both situations, and only His wisdom can make sense of the different outcomes. In either case, God is good, and we have an opportunity to praise Him and to pray for and serve our neighbor in ways that make sense given the various contexts.

We are glad to announce some very exciting opportunities coming up over the weeks ahead for our families and the Tallahassee community as a whole.

All of these events will be held in the CCS at King’s Crossing, housed in the Four Oaks Plaza across from the CCS main campus.

October 8 CCS Prayer Furnace

This event provides a rare opportunity for Christians to

gather together before the Lord of Glory and pray for our

families, our city and our school.

October 29 Technology & Kids: Seminar with Q&A

This event focuses on providing practical tools to keep

your kids safe in a “wild west’ internet world.

The challenges around this issue are only growing with

the rise of generative alternative intelligence, and we

all need all the help we can get in learning how to

navigate these waters with a clear Biblical worldview

and an effective toolkit.

November 12 Emotional Health & Kids: Panel Discussion

with Q&A

The decline of mental health in children and teens is at

epidemic proportions.

Our panel of experts will interact with your anonymous questions

in real time, and will provide practical takeaway that will

enable you to better serve your family and build

resilience and Biblically centered emotional health in

your children.

December 3   CCS Art Gallery Opening & Reception

Led by our own Art Teacher Melinda Gernhardt, we will unveil

some new artwork by CCS students and others in the wider

community.

The focus of the opening will be on how a Biblical worldview

enables artists who are Christians to have a powerful voice at

the cultural table, witnessing in obvious and subtle ways to

Christ’s Lordship over all of Creation.

Please note:

  1. There is no fee for entry to any of these events.

  2. Childcare will not be available for these events. We hope to begin to offer childcare as these events become more established over time.

  3. All events begin promptly at 6:30pm and will end by 8:00pm.

  4. Light refreshments will be provided for a nominal fee.

  5. RSVP will be required since in-person seating/participation is limited to 75 participants.

Many more details will be forthcoming over the next few weeks, so watch your inboxes!

These events are coordinated with some of the topics covered in Season 2 of the Gospel Centered Podcast, available here. There are book recommendations on these topics also available there.

One of the main thrusts behind opening up all of these resources is to remind us all that faith, hope and love win the day. We want to walk with our eyes open, yet with Christ’s Kingdom in the foreground.

As we practice this with intentionality, we will find the bleakness that has become so familiar to us will recede into the background. As Jesus is lifted up, He will call people to Himself.

And that is well worth celebrating.

Now may God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit who proceeds from them, receive all of the glory as we continue to move step by step toward becoming a truly extraordinary school, for the greater glory of God.

For CCS and the Kingdom,

Tom
