CCS @ King’s Crossing

God is on the move at CCS!

One of the most exciting new things for us here at CCS this summer is the leasing of the new King’s Crossing space (formerly Maple Street Biscuit) in the Four Oaks Plaza across from our Main Campus.

King’s Crossing was a key acquisition for us. With this 3700 square foot space we are able to not only create more classroom space for our growing High School, but to combine that goal with the vision of creating a center for ministry to our school community and also to the broader community of the Tallahassee Metro region.

We have many plans for this space, including:

  • Hosting an event series, to include

    • Prayer events

    • Training and equipping in Biblical worldview, particularly for parents.

    • Various other school events, including the Elementary School Author Presentations.

  • Providing a new home for existing some key CCS programs

    • The filming of the Gospel Centered Education podcast.

    • A new rehearsal space for LeTour, our multi-arts performing ensemble

  • Hosting the new Ascend program for Seniors, focused on calling and resting time and space to build relationships with local businesses and academic institutions, providing more opportunities for transitioning to college and the world of work.

  • Eventually, renting the space to various groups in the Christian community

King’s Crossing is scheduled to open on 1 August, in time to host our New Employee Orientation. We will be holding a formal opening ceremony once school gets started.

I want to personally thank  Melinda Gernhardt for her incredible design expertise in shaping the modern and welcoming aesthetic of the space, Robert Wicker and Josh Underwood for their skill and enthusiasm in leading the execution of the project, and Linda Morris and Heather Adams for making the numbers work.

May God receive maximum glory from this new endeavor!

Event Schedule

We are pleased to announce some exciting new events at CCS this fall for our families and the Tallahassee community as a whole!

All of these events will be held in the CCS at King’s Crossing space, housed in the Four Oaks Plaza across from the CCS main campus.

October 29: Technology & Kids: Seminar with Q&A

This event focuses on providing practical tools to keep

your kids safe in a “wild west’ internet world.

The challenges around this issue are only growing with

the rise of generative alternative intelligence, and we

all need all the help we can get in learning how to

navigate these waters with a clear Biblical worldview

and an effective toolkit.

Please check out the Gospel Centered Education

podcast episode with Vance Rutherford, the Director of

Technology at Community Christian School as a great

preparation for this event.

November 12: Emotional Health & Kids: Panel Discussion

with Q&A

The decline of mental health in children and teens is

continuing apace, yet God is firmly in control. We aim

to tackle this complex topic head on with the help of

some amazing friends of CCS!

This evening We will be welcoming to our stage an

exciting lineup of guests:

  • Dr. Richard Keezer, a psychologist with the U.S. Army who specializes in teenagers and adult male clients

  • Dr. Nari Jeter, a psychologist and FSU professor specializing in Child and Family Therapy.

  • Ms. Austyn Van Der Linden, LCSW, specializing in children and teens.

  • Mrs. Lorna Wolfkill, Assistant Principal/H.S. Guidance at CCS.

Our panel of experts will interact with your anonymous

questions in real time, and will provide practical

takeaway that will enable you to better serve your family

and build resilience and Biblically centered emotional

health in your children.

December 3: Art Gallery Opening + LETOUR & Reception

This event will showcase the work of CCS student artists in

spoken word, music and the visual arts.

Our new Art Gallery at King’s Crossing will be curated by our

own Melinda Gernhardt, and this evening we will unveil some

exciting new artwork by CCS students and others in the wider

community.

But there’s more! We will also experience the multi-arts

ensemble LETOUR live as they premier their new season “All

in Time”.

They will explore the relationship us humans have with time

and how we relate to the beautiful timelessness of a

transcendent God.

The worldview focus of this event will be on how artists who

are Christians work to express the beauty and creativity of

God, and how that expression can provide them with the

opportunity to have a powerful voice at the cultural table.

Through this interaction, these young artists can witness in

obvious and subtle ways to Christ’s Lordship over all of

Creation.

Please note:

  1. There is no fee for entry to any of these events.

  2. Childcare will not be available for these events. We hope to begin to offer childcare as these events become more established over time.

  3. All events begin promptly at 6:30pm and will end by 8:00pm.

  4. Light refreshments will be provided for a nominal fee.

  5. RSVP will be required since in-person seating/participation is limited to 75 participants. More on the RSVP process soon.

Many more details will be forthcoming over the next few weeks, so watch your inboxes!

These events are coordinated with some of the topics covered in Season 2 of the Gospel Centered Podcast, available here. There are book recommendations on these topics also available there.

One of the main thrusts behind opening up all of these resources is to remind us all that faith, hope and love win the day. We want to walk with our eyes open, yet with Christ’s Kingdom in the foreground.

Make plans today to come and join us!
