A Message from the Head of School Tom Argersinger

A Legacy of Faithfulness

Dear Parents and Friends of CCS,

May this issue of Parent News find you experiencing the grace and goodness of God!

I’ve been reflecting lately on the amazing season of growth and expansion that God has brought to CCS. It is a unique time of blessing, even amidst the normal struggles of growth pains and operating in a broken world.

In particular I’ve been struck by the grace God has shown, even in those times when we failed to catch His vision exactly or just plain messed things up! Thankfully, our humanness has not gotten in the way of God’s beautiful and sovereign plan for Community Christian School. God has been so faithful.

And He continues to unpack vision for us, recently in the area of legacy; what sort of legacy do we want to be building in our community?

I’m including some notes here that I shared in a recent Executive Team meeting, our senior staff leaders at the school:

The Three-Part Legacy of CCS

Representing CCS’ calling to the Tallahassee Metro Area and beyond

This Legacy is the anticipated Spirit-led overflow of the Three Core Programs (Rigorous Worldview Academics, Courageous Biblical Leadership, Deep, Resilient Spiritual Formation), the Three Core Values (Faith, Honor, Calling) and the Three Pillars of CCS (Biblical Foundations, Shalom Community and a Resurrection Culture).

These should be realized in the context of the great Purpose for this school: Kingdom Missions at home and abroad.

The endgame of this school is preparing students and families to be mission-ready, and to walk with Christ as He works out His mission in all of its varied forms. Should we forget or minimize this calling, we would cease to be CCS.

Ultimately, it is God who causes and enables this Legacy to be real and lasting; our role as a divinely unified Corps (Faculty & Admin Staff) (John 15) is to follow Christ wherever He leads, no matter the cost -  to do the hard but the right thing, in a spirit of joyful shalom.

May God go before us as we walk into His future, staying intentionally connected to the Vine.

  1. An Intellectual Legacy

    1. Biblical Worldview: thinking deeply from a Biblical perspective, practicing compassionate discernment

  2. An Ethical Legacy

    1. Kingdom Justice: doing the right thing as God defines it, as we serve the weak, the voiceless and the marginalized

  3. A Spiritual Legacy

    1. Gospel-Centered Discipleship: gracefully walking together with the Trinity toward maturity and wholeness

This unique vision of legacy of impact beyond the four walls of the school was poured into CCS at it’s inception some 47 years ago by a group of far-sighted and God-loving people who were sold out on God and Christian education. By His grace, that vibrant, Gospel Centered vision still beats today in the hearts of our Corps.

We are blessed to have such a powerful heritage, and such a great cloud of witnesses to cheer us on!

Over the next few weeks there will be much more to say about the specifics of how God is moving and the new programs that will be launching, God willing, in the Fall of 2024.

For now, let’s praise the Lord for what He has already done in getting us to this place, for where He has us now (a place of utter dependence on Him), and for what He will do as He works out His will among and through us.

May God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit who proceeds from them, receive all of the glory as we continue to move step by step toward becoming a truly extraordinary school, for the greater glory of God.

For CCS and the Kingdom,

Tom
