The CCS faculty are committed to educating our K-12 students with world-class academics through a Biblical worldview.  Every faculty member has at least a bachelor's degree, while 13 hold Master's degrees, and one has a doctorate. 

CCS faculty attend both required ongoing training and subject-specific training in their respective fields of study. They model academic prowess, leadership skills, and a deeply committed walk with the Lord.

Secondary Faculty:

David Pinson - Headmaster and Secondary Principal

David Pinson has been a part of CCS since 1995.  He has a B.S. in English Education and a M.S. in Instructional Systems both from FSU.  At CCS he has taught science, social studies, Bible, public speaking, enrichment classes and English.  He has also worked with the cast and crew in three musicals produced by CCS and has been an assistant soccer coach.

Mr. Pinson was asked to serve as Secondary Assistant Principal in 1999 and in 2000 became Middle School Principal. In 2008 he added Assistant High School Principal to his middle school duties, and in 2013 became principal of the entire secondary school.  Starting with the 2015-2016 school year, Mr. Pinson became the Headmaster at CCS!

Mr. Pinson’s strongest desire is to perform his administrative and classroom duties with a consistent emphasis of seeing Jesus glorified through the ministry of CCS.  He desires to serve the Lord by assisting Christian families in educating their children, encouraging students in their faith, supporting students in developing strong character, and serving the faculty as they motivate students towards a love of learning and a life of service.

Tom Argersinger - Creative Arts Director, High School Guidance Counselor, Philosophy and Ethics

Tom has been an educator his entire life, serving at the faculty and administrative levels both at the K-12 and college levels. He holds the B.A. from Florida Southern College and the M.M.Ed from Florida State University. His subject area specialties lie in history, philosophy and the creative arts. As a leader, Tom’s particular calling is in leading diverse teams to accomplish difficult missions.

Tom began his tenure at Community Christian School in 1993, teaching 8 subjects. By the grace of God he rose through the ranks, becoming Headmaster in 1997. 

Tom served as Headmaster during several key phases of the school’s history, and had the privilege of leading a tremendously talented team of people to conceive and birth the CCS High School program in 2006.   Tom retired from the Headmastership in 2014, and took the opportunity to follow God into the consulting and training arena. He was subsequently rehired by CCS in a part-time capacity, and is currently contributing to the mission as Secondary Guidance Counselor, Creative Arts Director, and the Artistic Director of LeTour, a multi-arts performing ensemble.

Lori Bouck - Science, Mathematics

Lori Bouck joined Community Christian School in August of 2012.  She teaches  science in the secondary program.  Lori earned both a B.S. in Biological Sciences and her teaching certificate from the University of California at Davis and taught science for three years in a California public school.  She earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in Biological Oceanography from Florida State University.  During her graduate studies, Lori participated in several research cruises, discovered and named five species of benthic copepods, and published four papers in refereed journals.  Her husband, Matthew Bouck, is the director of the Office of Articulation for the Florida Department of Education.  Their three children attend Community Christian School. The Boucks are members of First Baptist Church, Tallahassee.

Jacob Breman - Science

Jacob Breman is a Tallahassee native who attended CCS from 3rd to 8th grade.  He has a B.S. in Physics and a M.S. in Science Education both from FSU and joined our CCS Faculty in 2011.  In addition to teaching middle and high school science, Jacob serves as the Varsity tennis coach and the National Honor and Junior Honor Society Faculty Adviser.

Russ Bryant - Mathematics

Russ Bryant has taught mathematics in the secondary program here at Community Christian School since moving to the area from south Florida in 2012.  In addition to mathematics, he is also working with the high school’s leadership program.  Russ earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Lyon College, and is currently working on his professional teaching certificate in a master’s level program with the University of West Florida.  Prior to teaching, Russ worked over 20 years in restaurant management spending the last 12 years with Chili’s as a Managing Partner.  His wife, Tricia, is a R.N. at Tallahassee Memorial as well as a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant.  They have two boys in the secondary program and are now attending City Church.  When Russ is not teaching math, you may find him on the field umpiring high school and collegiate baseball games or kayaking a river.

Jeff Collier - Bible

Jeff Collier started teaching at Community Christian School in the Spring of 1996.  Having received his degree at Florida State University in Classical Archaeology, Jeff served as a middle school history teacher for 8 years.  God called the family to Pennsylvania and New York for 4 years doing church ministry and attending Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary.  At the start of the high school program, God called the Colliers back to CCS to teach Biblical Studies.  Jeff has coached most of the sports at CCS at some time or another, except tennis and golf.  Jeff and his lovely wife, Paula, attend Canopy Roads Baptist Church.  Their three children attend CCS - Erin, Shannon, and Jeremy.

Amy Dietz is excited to be teaching Secondary math again this year. She joined the CCS faculty in 2003 and taught for several years before staying home to raise her 4 boys - Luke, Nate, Noah and Jude. Now that all her boys are in school, she has returned to teach again this year. Amy has her degree from FSU and has taught math at the middle school and high school level for almost 8 years. She and her husband are active members of Thomasville Road Baptist Church.  

Mara Eller - English

Mara Eller joined CCS in 2013 as the 7th and 8th grade Language Arts teacher and now  teaches 10th grade English and middle school Spanish. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Latin American Studies from Vassar College and studied at FSU to receive a Graduate Certificate in Publishing and Editing and a Master’s degree in American Studies with a focus in Literature and Religion. She and her husband have two young daughters and are active members of St. Peter's Church. When she used to have spare time, Mara enjoyed reading, listening to music, playing the cello, writing, and spending time with friends and family.

Susan Findley - English, Speech

Susan Findley graduated with a B.S. in Speech Education from Bob Jones University in 1976. Susan and her husband have been involved in Christian education, he as an administrator and she as a teacher, for many years. Her husband Bill currently serves as the Bureau Chief of the Division of Blind Services for the Florida Department of Education.  Susan is currently in her fourth year as a part-time teacher at CCS in secondary English, JREX, Public Speaking, and Middle School Bible. In addition to her duties at CCS, she is an online grader for SAT essays.  In her free time she enjoys cooking, watching old movies, and spending as much time as possible with her three grown children and their families.

Sheri Freeland - Physical Education

Sheri Freeland is a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Recreation Administration.  Before joining the CCS faculty, Sheri worked in her field for many years as a Recreation Supervisor for the cities of Winter Garden and Lakeland running their summer camps and special events. She has spent most of her adult life in a variety of positions working with students from preschool age through middle school.  She has been married for 14 years to her husband, David who is the Art Director for World Magazine. As a mom of three active kids, Carson, Parker & Lyndsey, she stays busy but in her spare time, she enjoys exercising, reading and cheering for her Auburn Tigers!  The Freelands are active members of Four Oaks Community Church. 

Pat Howard - Art

Pat Howard earned her B.S. in Art Education from FSU. In 2005, she began teaching Art, Bible, and Life Management in the secondary. She has been a parent at CCS since 1995 with her 8 children having attended. Pat currently teaches Secondary Art and serves a the Facilities Coordinator, managing the use and rental of campus. She has 3 sons who graduated from FSU, 1 from UNF, and 4 are in high school, two of those are a part of CCHS.  One of the greatest privileges of teaching in the secondary for Pat has been to watch the Lord transform and mature the students from 6th grade until they leave CCS. These years are crucial in their spiritual walk and it is a joy to behold.

When not at school, Pat enjoys cooking, gardening, and studying the Bible. Pat and her family attend Four Oaks Church. Pat has served as co-leader of the CCS Moms in Prayer group, which meets in her home, for 15 years. Pat has been blessed and honored to be a part of the CCS family and wants to encourage all moms to consider joining their hearts in prayer at Moms in Prayer after drop-off on Monday mornings. 

Kellie Odom - World History, Language, Bible

Kellie Odom is our 6th grade History and Language Arts teacher. This is her second year at CCS.  She is a native Tallahasseean and a Florida State University Alumnus.  She graduated with a M.S. degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Developmental Reading. Her experience ranges from public education, to administration, to college- level instruction.

She and her family are members of Evangel Assembly of God church in Tallahassee, where they are active in the Children’s Ministry program.  She has been married to Jeff for 25 years and has two children: Gray and Elli.


Frank Palumbo - Mathematics

Frank Palumbo joined the CCS Faculty in 2011, and currently teaches Algebra 1 & 2 and Statistics.  Frank is the father of 4 children, married for 42 years to his lovely wife Marilyn. They have 13 grandchildren. Frank graduated from Rutgers University with a Masters Degree in Statistics, and his under-grad degree was in Mathematics. He has over 30 years of teaching experience at various levels (including FSU and TCC). Frank was a youth pastor for about 12 years and simply loves working with young people.

Jeanine Post - Spanish

Jeanine Blum Post has taught at Community Christian School since 2007 when the high school was established.  She earned her masters in Foreign Language Education from Florida State University and is committed to helping her students achieve conversational fluency.  She and her husband served on the mission field for several years in the early 90's but have lived in the Tallahassee area for over 20 years where they raised their five children and now attend Four Oaks Community Church. 

Katharine Thorpe - English

Katharine Thorpe - English

Katharine Thorpe teaches 7th and 8th grade English this year at CCS. She earned her BA in Religion from FSU.  Before coming to CCS, she worked for  several years with the Lighthouse Children's Home, a ministry for at-risk teen girls in Tallahassee, Florida. Katharine and her husband Jon have been married for eight years, and have two children: Sophie, aged 7, and Tessa, aged 4. In addition to teaching, Katharine enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and artistic endeavors.

Lorna Wolfkill - Athletics Director

Lorna Wolfkill has been the Athletic Director for CCS since July 2011.  Lorna earned her MBA from Florida State University.  She is also certified in Strength & Conditioning and Sports Nutrition through American Muscle and Fitness.  Lorna is also a 2nd degree Black Belt in Karate and Kickboxing.  Lorna and Ryan, her husband, have 3 children all of which currently attend CCS.  The Wolfkills have been in Tallahassee and members of Four Oaks Community Church since 2005.

Elementary Faculty:

Pam Hollingsworth - Elementary Principal

Pam Hollingsworth joined Community Christian School in 1993 after teaching elementary students for 10 years in public school.  She has served at CCS as a classroom teacher, the Educational Services Coordinator, Elementary Assistant Principal and currently as the Elementary Principal.  She earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from Florida State University and counts it a privilege and an honor to co-labor with parents and teachers in the Christian education of young students. Her greatest joy is to watch children love God more than anything else, to see them freely worship Him and endeavor to live a holy life for Christ.

Pam is married to Russel, a retired Firefighter/EMT, has three children and enjoys spending time with their 3 grandsons and 3 granddaughters. She is a member of Four Oaks Community Church and enjoys reading, drawing and painting. 


Michele Apple - VPK

Michele Apple began teaching 1st grade at Community Christian School in 2006.  She received her bachelor’s degree in 1986 from Eastern Illinois University, majoring in Home Economics Family Services, with an emphasis on early Childhood.  She and her husband Doug have four grown children.

Donna Berlinghoff - Music, Chapel, Computer Lab

Donna Berlinghoff joined CCS in July of 2004. She currently teaches elementary chapel, elementary music, and elementary computer lab. Donna earned her BME from Florida State University and has lived in Tallahassee since 1985. Her husband of 30 years is Jeff Berlinghoff and they have 3 grown children. They attend Freedom Church in Tallahassee.

Ashley Bowman - Fifth Grade

Ashley Bowman began her teaching career at Community Christian School in 2008.  Originally from Mississippi, she is a graduate of Delta State University where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education.  She is married to Dr. Robert Bowman, and they attend St. Peter’s Anglican Church. 

Christina Brannon - VPK, After School Director

Christina Brannon has been with CCS since 2006 as a parent, and since 2012 as a faculty member.  At CCS she has worked in various Elementary roles in grades K-3, as well as assisting 6th grade PE and study hall.  Before coming to CCS professionally, Christina worked in a VPK classroom for four years and is a certified State of Florida VPK teacher and Preschool Director.  She received her BS degree in 1991 with a dual major in Criminal Justice and Psychology.  Little known fact - Christina was also a Police Officer for 9 years, five of which she spent teaching the D.A.R.E. program in various Leon County Schools. Christina has 2 children - Hunter and Madelyn.  Her daughter Madelyn attends CCS and is in the 5th grade.  Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6.  "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."  She feels so blessed to be at CCS as a faculty member and as a parent.

Julie Caylor is the newest member of the fifth grade team at CCS. She received her BA degree in Elementary Education and has been teaching in Christian education for over a decade.  She has spent most of those years teaching students in grades third through fifth. When she is not in the classroom, she enjoys outdoor activities, art museums, and exploring with her two teenagers, Chloe and Silas. She and her children attend Four Oaks Community Church.

Sharon Dolly - First Grade

Sharon Dolly joined the CCS Elementary Faculty as a first grade teacher in 2005.  She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Biological Science and in Nursing from Florida State University, and is a registered nurse.  Sharon earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Flagler College, and she is privileged to be able to serve the Lord at CCS, where she can teach from His Word daily.  Sharon and her husband Ray have four children, two of whom are CCS graduates.  The Dolly’s are members of Grace Church of Tallahassee.

Donna Eplin - Elementary Spanish

Donna Eplin has worked for Community Christian School since 2014 as an Elementary Spanish teacher.  She has lived in Tallahassee since 2012. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education in 1988 from the University of South Florida.  She has taught  Pre-K, 3rd and 5th grades, as well as high school Spanish for home-schoolers in Polk County. She enjoys disc golf, quilting and reading.  She and her husband of 32 years, Chane Eplin, have five daughters and two sons-in-law. They attend Freedom Church.


Lynne Garvin - Second Grade

Lynne Garvin began teaching second grade at CCS in 1996.  She was born and raised in Pennsylvania and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Bloomsburg University.  She and her husband Jim have one daughter who attended CCS from K-9th. grade and now lives and works in Atlanta.  They are members of Fellowship Presbyterian Church.

Sabrina Grubbs - Third Grade

Sabrina Grubbs has been teaching third grade at CCS since 2004.  A native of Pensacola, she received her B.A. in Elementary Education from Southeastern University and her M.S. in Elementary Education from Pensacola Christian College.  Her classroom teaching experience includes Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third grades.  She spent several summers teaching summer school for grades 4-6 and served as Education Director for two years at Camp Gilead in Polk City, Florida.  She and her husband of 30+ years, Arthur, attend Wildwood Presbyterian Church and enjoy junctiquing and rescuing and refinishing furniture pieces.

Monica Lassiter - Physical Education

Monica Lassiter has been teaching Physical Education for the past 15 years and at CCS for the last 12.  She has a B.A. degree in Health and Physical Education.  Although she loves sports, she would much rather be playing the game than watching the game.  Monica has a wonderful family with 6 children who are a good fitness program because they keep her constantly running around.  She is deeply passionate about children being active and healthy, and believes that planting a seed through a quality physical education can help them grow into active and healthy adults for life.

Amy joined CCS in 2016 as the fourth grade teacher. She has a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Florida State University and has been teaching upper elementary for 3 years in both public and private schools. Outside of teaching, Amy is a runner and loves to read, craft, and spend time outdoors. She and her husband, Nick, attend First Baptist Church of Tallahassee. 

Julie Scarboro - Librarian

Julie joined the faculty at CCS in 2015.  She hopes to inspire students to read for learning and pleasure while supporting teachers with resources for their classrooms.  A favorite quote of hers is "Who we are is God's gift to us, Who we become is our gift to God."

In her work and personal life, she strives to honor God and encourage the students at CCS in their relationship with Christ.  She earned her B.S. in Elementary Education at F.S.U. in 1990 and recently passed the Media Specialist exam of Florida.  She is pursuing her Master's degree in Library Science at F.S.U.  She married her husband, Lee,  26 years ago and they have two children. Their son, Luke, is a junior at F.S.U. and their daughter, Rachel, is a senior at Leon High School.  They are members at First Baptist Church in Tallahassee and love being a part of the church's life there. 

Cheryl Shaw - Kindergarten

Cheryl Shaw began her teaching career at CCS in 2008. She has taught kindergarten through 5th grade, is currently teaching Kindergarten, and also enjoys tutoring. She has a Bachelor's degree in Child Development and Family Relations and a Master's degree in Counseling and Human Systems with a minor in Spanish, from Florida State University. Her husband, Jim Shaw, works at FSU for Seminole Productions. They have 2 children, Cassidy and Jack. They attend Calvary Chapel where they have been active members since 1986.

Donna Warren - Kindergarten

Donna Warren has been teaching the CCS kindergarten class since 1996.  She has a B.S. in Education with focus in Reading, Early Childhood Exceptional Children, Behavior Disordered Children and graduate work in early childhood and learning disabilities from Houston Baptist, University of Maryland, John Hopkins and Loyola. She holds Texas and ACSI certifications. Before coming to Florida, she taught students in special education classes and early childhood classes for 18 years. Donna feels that every teaching experience has been an amazing gift from God. 

Education Specialists:

Lawson Smith - Educational Services Director

Lawson Smith has served in the field of education since 1987 when she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education/Music Therapy.  In 1990, she completed a master’s degree in Special Education at FSU.  Since that time, Mrs. Smith has taught in many settings and age groups including students with special needs.  For 9 years she served as an adjunct professor in the Special Education Department of Florida state University where she taught several courses and designed and supervised the practicum program for FSU juniors and seniors majoring in Special Education.  Mrs. Smith has taught at the preschool, elementary, middle, high school and university levels. Teaching experience  includes 2, 3, and 4 year old preschool, VPK, kindergarten, 2nd grade, 3rd grade math, 6th grade bible, elementary chapel, and middle/high school students with varying exceptionalities.   Administrative experience includes serving as as Principal of Epiphany Lutheran School (Tallahassee) for 4 years.  Mrs. Smith has been at CCS since 2010 and is currently the Director of Educational Services.  In this role, she oversees various programs at CCS that support students with special needs including accommodation plans, tutoring, Autism Support through the COMPASS program, and resource classes.  Mrs. Smith also supervises the annual administration of the Terra Nova 3 Achievement Test to grades 1-10.  She is married to Glenn Smith and together they enjoy bible study, gardening, boating, traveling, and their five adult children.

Sharon Kniepmann - Compass Program Coordinator

Sharon Kniepmann is a teacher/coordinator for the Compass Program at CCS.  The Compass Program is designed to help students with certain  special needs to be successful within the CCS student family. Sharon brings a great skill set to this position. She has a bachelors degree in Special Education from Southeast Missouri State University, and has experience as a special education teacher in St. Louis, MO, Jacksonville, FL, and Melbourne FL. Both of her children, Caleb and Hannah, have been students at CCS.

Kimberly Kumar graduated from FSU in 2004 as a Chemical Engineer and worked in a manufacturing facility for more than 7 yrs.  In 2012, she felt called to leave her engineering career and stay home in order to raise their children. While at home, she started privately tutoring high school math. Having helped numerous students understand math and feeling called to this ministry, Mrs. Kumar started serving at CCS in August 2016. She is married to David Kumar and they have three children. 

Alia Vincent - Educational Services Instructor

Alia joined Community Christian School in 2004 after teaching in 4 years in Leon County Schools.  She has her Master's Degree in Special Education from Florida State University.  Alia and her husband Brian have four children, Kaylen, Madelyn, J.D. & Catherine, which all attend CCS.  Their family has attended Celebration Baptist Church since 1997.
