Charlotte's Web, a children's novel by American author E.B. White, tells the story of a pig named Wilbur and his friendship with a barn spider named Charlotte. When Wilbur is in danger of being slaughtered by the farmer, Charlotte writes messages praising Wilbur (such as "Some Pig") in her web in order to persuade the farmer to let him live. This play adaptation by Joseph Robinette captures the spirit of Mr. White's original story and includes Wilbur's other barnyard residents: Goose and Gander, Sheep, Lamb, and the rat Templeton. as well as the people in Wilbur's life--Fern who loves him; her parents, John and Martha Arable; her brother Avery; her aunt and uncle, Edith and Homer Zuckerman; and Lurvy, their hired hand. This is a story of loving, loyal friendship. And couldn't everyone do with some of that. As Charlotte says, "You have been my friend. That in itself is a tremendous thing."
